David Winstanley
Owner, GW Movers
Sales Director, Chorley Sand & Aggregates

An experienced waste and environmental professional, David has directed strategy, sales and operations for the UK divisions of global organisations for almost four decades. David is currently providing his expertise to the industry through his own company, GW Movers, which offers advice and consultancy to waste and environmental organisations nationwide.

Additionally, his position as Sales Director at Chorley Sand & Aggregates sees David work alongside the owner to shape the future of the Lancashire-based business, which uniquely comprises an aggregate recycling plant, inert landfill and sand quarry. The inert landfill offers responsible disposal of building and construction waste, while customers also benefit from R Code status via the onsite recycling plant.

Prior to launching GW Movers in 2014, David spent 36 years at the helm of REMONDIS UK (and its predecessor Lokas Ltd) – a division of the family-owned RETHMANN company. David was instrumental in growing the business, ensuring it was the first in the industry to be granted ISO 9001 accreditation in 1991, as well as facilitating the sale to REMONDIS Group in 1994. He remained on board as Managing Director, ensuring it was the first company in the UK to be granted a TFS (trans frontier shipment) licence in 2007, and presiding over an investment of almost £10m into a state-of-the-art waste transfer and recycling facility in 2013.
